My first year (2023) of retirement has flown by. The 'Restorations' section is new as of December '23 and I've expanded my skillset to include cane replacement. I've also undertaken this year kitchen cabinet repairs and refinishing, and refinished pine flooring for which there is a picture in 'Other Refinishing Projects' section below (no pics of the cabinets however). Take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about work I've already completed. I hope you enjoy my site and take a moment to drop me a line.

Here's the project before work began. Note that the tabletop end sections were loose and disconnected with the other top sections. The table did open for a leaf, but the owner lost the leaf somewhere in the table travels. This table dates back to the early 1900's.
Over the years, portions of the apron molding had broken off and were missing. Here are close-ups of two sections after new molding were fabricated and attached.
Here is the tabletop restored. Stains are gone, and broken sections reattached. As good as new.
Close-ups of two molding sections that were fabricated and refinished. Notice how closely they match the finish, and the near seamless connection with the apron's original molding.

This all-white painted Pottery Barn kitchen table was beautifully refreshed. The feet, base and pedestal were repainted to match the kitchen cabinets. The top was stripped of the original paint and stained with a Minwax semi-transparent color stain. Finally, it was finished with multiple coats of satin finish polyurethane.
Here is a closeup of the finished tabletop. Furniture designed to be painted often is manufactured with wood of different colors or species. This can be transformed into a unique look when softened with a pickling or colored semi-transparent stain. In this case, 'Warm White' was the stain color used.
The original Ethan Allen Coffee Table
This was refinished with a Silver Ash wood stain, then completed with a hand rubbed polyurethane finish.
The original oak dining table finish. The top had several sectional cracks as did each of the 2 leaves (not pictured here). The owner asked to repair the cracks and remove the original finish and color, and restore the wood to its original natural golden oak color.
Here is the finished dining table top and 2 leaves behind it. All cracks were repaired, old finish removed, and restored to its original golden oak beauty. Finished the project with 3 coats of semi gloss polyurethane.
